Cristian D.González-Avilés. Short biography:
I was born in Arica, Chile, on June 25th, 1961. I got my Bachelor's degree at Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Chile, in December 1985, followed by Master's degree at the same institution a year later. After that I enrolled at The Ohio State University, where I obtained my PhD degree in March of 1994. I wrote my thesis, on the BSD conjecture for elliptic curves with complex multiplication over Q(\sqrt{-7}), under the direction of Karl Rubin. I have been an Instructor, and then an Assistant Professor, at Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de Chile, from 1994 to 2002. From 2003 to 2008, I taught at Universidad Andrés Bello in Santiago. From 2008 I have been at Universidad de La Serena, where I am an Associate Professor. All my current work is inspired by the BSD conjecture, although this may not be apparent.
